What is Doppler vascular measurement?
Doppler vascular measurement (often called Doppler ultrasound) uses harmless sound waves to look at blood flow in your blood vessels. It does not use needles or radiation. The test shows how fast blood is moving and whether blood is flowing smoothly or if there are areas of narrowing or blockage.
Why it matters for chiropractic care
For people with neck pain, dizziness, headaches, or numbness, knowing how blood is flowing can be important. A Doppler test can help your chiropractor (or a doctor they work with) understand whether circulation issues might be contributing to your symptoms. If the test shows a problem, your chiropractor can refer you to the right specialist for further care.
What to expect during the test
The test is quick and painless — you usually lie down while a technician gently moves a small probe over the skin. Gel is used so the probe makes good contact; you won’t feel the sound waves. Results are available soon after, and your chiropractor will explain what they mean and recommend any next steps or referrals if needed.
